Horatio Nelson was born in the small, windswept North Norfolk village of Burnham Thorpe on 29th September 1758. The North Sea lies only one and a half miles away. The Nelson family had strong multi-generational links to the priesthood. Horatio's grandfather, father, brother, nephew, cousin and son-in-law were all vicars in Norfolk.
