St Andrew and St Mary’s, Langham
Open dawn to dusk.
The charmingly gabled and massive-towered church at Langham looks towards the sea guarding its gentle hill. The building largely dates from the 15th century. Notice the decorated knapped-flint flushwork base course which extends around the tower and along the west end of the south aisle. The octagonal Purbeck marble font dates to the 13th century and includes the inscription 'Alice Nettleton baptised 14th day of April 1692'. A highlight of this church is the beautiful stained glass window behind the pulpit by Sir Edward Burne-Jones from the William Morris workshops. It depicts Faith and Hope treading on Unbelief and Despair.
