This church was built in the 1330s and, little altered since, displays a uniformly decorated style. It has reputedly the widest pillarless nave span in East Anglia at 39ft. 6in. Dating from 1347, the famous Hastyngs brass shows Sir Hugh Hastings with angels receiving his soul. He is surrounded by comrades from the Hundred Years' War. The architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner calls it 'the most sumptuous of all English church brasses.'
