The church occupies a commanding position on a hill top, its Saxon round tower provides a superb look out, and was used as such by the Home Guard in WWII. Notable Norman south door. Wall painting of St Christopher. The nearby marshes were drained by the Dutch in the C16 and there is ledger slab to the wife of one of them in the nave, with the inscription in Dutch. The tower has a peal of five bells. A window on the south side of the nave is dedicated to Sir J Arnesby Brown, RA who featured the church in a number of his paintings.
