St Michael’s, Broome
Open on most days from 10am to 5pm or dusk during the winter months.St Michael's Church stands isolated and alone, about a quarter of a mile along a public footpath and facing open countryside, well to the north of where most Broome residents live now. The setting offers lovely views across to the tower of neighbouring St Mary's Church in Ditchingham. The splendid west doorway contains its original door. In the triangular spandrels are shields carved with the emblems of the Holy Trinity and Instruments of the Passion. The roof of the nave was originally thatched. Beside the tower is the distinctive war memorial in the form of a crucifix. The font is comparatively modern. The stem dates from the 15th century and is adorned with four magnificent lions. The beautiful reredos, depicts St Michael the Archangel flanked by smaller musical angels. There is an interesting array of memorials and hatchments.
